In Memoriam of Roger Howie – the Vibrant Redhead
Roger was a person we truly love.
With a keen eye for the Vancouver arts
Its theatre, music, dance and poetry scene,
A heart often set to the Carnegie
He was a striver attempting
To make the better much better
With hurdles ahead he encountered
With a colourful wit and humour
Our daring, lively fellow on a trapeze
Of life, taking the dare, turning it
Into shared spirited moments of character
This talented Canadian brother,
We saw him as a bodhisattva
One learning from a river’s flow
Ferrying those in need over rough waters
And across a continent with his dog Shadow
Then acting upon the stage
And to a mainland swing bridge
He worked, wrote watching the world
Move at its ever fascinating and fast pace
A truthful hand for the keen expression
That unforgettable irreplaceable Howie spirit
Dearly missed, dearly loved and thought of,
The vibrant redhead of our times
